Tours and Tasting
Wine Tours
We greet you in our Netherwood Vineyard, share our approach to organic & biodynamic farming and viticulture and show you around our traditional winery. Your tour finishes in our Winery Room with a seated tasting of six wines accompanied by snacks.
For tours at 11am each day, possibly with other guests, we charge $95 per person. This tour is complimentary for club members, once a year (including 3 friends). Allow 45 minutes to 1.5 hours for the tour. Please book our Wine Tour online with the form below. The Wine Tour is intimate so we regret that we cannot accommodate groups larger than 8 people.
We can organise a private Wine Tour with either Nicholas or Penelope or one of their managers for $150 per person. A designated Winemaker Tour with Nicholas can also be booked on request – please contact us direct to make a time and confirm our fee at bookings@blackestate.co.nz.
The Winery Room for a private lunch
We can host larger groups for a private lunch in our Winery Room, taking in the views of Netherwood Vineyard and enjoying our wines, food and hospitality. Lunch is served in a simple sharing style and focuses on fresh organic and local produce. Enquire about The Winery Room for your private lunch (and tasting)
Hold your group’s meeting at the Winery Room
We also invite businesses, families and groups to hire the Winery Room for private all day use for meetings or workshops. Kumiko's Guest House
Right next door to Black Estate restaurant, our neighbours Sue and Paul offer time to relax at Kumiko’s Guest House – a luxurious three bedroom Japanese designed home with extensive gardens and spa bath. It is a serene place to be. E-bikes are provided for guests to enjoy the adjacent Waipara Valley Vineyard Trail.
Experience the timeless beauty of Japanese design in harmony with the pristine New Zealand landscape at Kumiko’s Guesthouse – your perfect haven amongst the vineyards of Waipara.
When you book to stay with us at Kumiko’s, you are booking the full use of the house and gardens. The house caters comfortably to families, small groups, special occasions, and because of its generous design, is flexible to many configurations. We’re also happy to accommodate pets by negotiation. Black Estate B&B
A beautiful B & B at Black Estate’s organic Home vineyard, located on the ground floor of our architecturally designed building. Our cellar door and lunch time restaurant are in the opposite end of this building. The views are vast, expanding from the garden and vineyard to the majestic Southern Alps. You can stay any night of the week but please note our restaurant and cellar door is closed Tuesday-Wednesday. On days that it is open, our restaurant closes at 4pm so you’ll have the place & sunset to yourselves. This is real life on the vineyard, where you may observe our staff in the vineyard (and the odd tractor), and the environment around our vines – the stars, resident rabbits and insects, plants and of course vines. The B & B is on the Waipara Valley Vineyard Trail and mountain bikes are provided for use while you are staying.
